Spix Macaw
AED300.00
Description
This painting from The Fading Broadcast series features the Spix Macaw, a species that has stood at the edge of extinction and is now cautiously returning yet remains far from secure. The Spix macaw was declared extinct in the wild in 2000, but ongoing breeding programs have brought the population to around 160 birds. Seated before a telex machine and a typewriter, the macaw is shown carefully composing a letter, a humble and urgent plea addressed to humankind. These obsolete tools of communication symbolize messages sent slowly, often overlooked, and sometimes received too late. The act of typing becomes one of submission and hope, acknowledging that survival now depends on sustained human responsibility. While recovery has begun, the painting reminds us that revival alone is not enough there is still much work to be done before these voices can truly be saved from silence.
